Nelson’s Blood began in May of 2023 when bad leader Craig Kellberg was asked to put together a band to sing sea shanties for a special event. After making it very clear that sea shanties were not at all in his wheelhouse, Craig agreed. The initial performance went well enough that he decided to pursue the project. Joined soon by fiddler Kristina Miller, the duo began a weekly residency that would last for the next year-and-a-half, until being disrupted by Hurricane Helene. But the band came back strong, growing to a quartet. What began as the most humble thrown together project has evolved into a show full of passion and love.
